Help Young Minds

Allowing every child to reach for the stars

Our Executives

Juliette Eshleman

President

Hello, my name is Juliette Eshleman and I am a fourth year student studying Cell Biology. I love being part of this blossoming organization as it blends my passion for science and community involvement, providing an outlet for kids to reach their full potential and become curious and excited about their learning. I believe that everyone should have equal access to educational resources, ensuring a fair opportunity to succeed in their academic journey. As President, I hope to help HYM grow and thrive this year, enabling our amazing executives and volunteers to create something special!

Cindy Srinivasan

Vice-President

Hello! My name is Cindy (she/her). I will be heading into my fourth year of Pharmacology Specialization. When I'm not studying, I'm usually working, volunteering and cooking some delicious food! I first started with Help Young Minds as a Volunteer Tutor, and have really enjoyed developing meaningful connections with my tutee. I want to ensure students have an equal opportunity to succeed in their education, while also having a supportive peer to talk to. This year I will be continuing to make a difference in the young students of our community as the Volunteer Tutor Recruiter. My goals for the upcoming year include: developing the tutoring program with the team, providing accessible wellness and community resources, and creating a newsletter poster with all the statistics and progress of our organization.

Sophie Lafond

Volunteer Coordinator

Hello! My name is Sophie (they/them). I’m heading into my third year in a Women’s and Gender Studies major. I joined Help Young Minds as a tutor in my first year and am super excited for my first year on the executive team! I joined HYM because I know from experience that access to tutoring isn’t always easy, but everyone should have the access. Outside of school, you can mainly find me doing karate, working a ton, or volunteering with other organizations!

Ashton Engler

Volunteer Director

Hi! My name is Ashton and I’m in my fifth year at the University of Alberta. I just completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree in 2022, and will be entering the Nursing After Degree program. I joined Help Young Minds because I am passionate about our mission and believe that every child deserves access to quality education and be provided with the tools and skills to reach their full academic potential. Outside of HYM I enjoy binge watching my favorite TV shows and refereeing soccer.

Korah Sanderson

Executive at Large

Hey everyone! I am a fourth year Secondary Education student majoring in Math and Physics. I joined Help Young Minds because I believe every student deserves to learn and succeed in their education. I am so proud to be a part of this amazing group of individuals because I am passionate about helping students learn and helping them discover their full potential. In my free time, I enjoy playing board games, painting, and drinking Starbucks refreshers.

Kesia Muthuthotatil

Finance Director

Hello! My name is Kesia (she/her). I will be entering my fourth year of Criminology this fall. In my spare time, I love to volunteer, read books, and go on walks and enjoy the scenery of Edmonton. I first joined HYM as a volunteer tutor, and later wanted to become more involved with HYM as an exec because I really love and support the mission this organization has. I am so proud to be part of this amazing group which provides resources that allow students to have an equal access to educational resources and help them flourish in their abilities and studies. As the Finance Director, I hope to allocate proper funds and organize efficient fundraisers, allowing our group to host events and spread the word about what we do and our mission.

Katrina Cereno

Content Director

Katrina is in her third year majoring in Civil Engineering with Co-op. She joined HYM because "I want to amplify the mission of the organization by showing to what extent Help Young Minds can be creative in helping the community and mostly the young generation. As a content director, I want to provide our audience and the community an innovative content that is very exciting and eye catching. I desire that HYM’s mission will continue to influence the young generation in the most creative way!" While Katrina is not organizing the next set of blogs to upload, she plays the guitar and violin and loves to sing and knit.

Daisy Lau

Webmaster

Hi! My name is Daisy and I am a fourth year student majoring in Computing Science specializing in Software Practice. I am the Webmaster working on everything here on the website! I joined HYM because I want to help contribute to the mission that we hold here. I believe that nothing should inhibit the ability for a child to reach their full potential. In my free time, I like to play board games, cook, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
