Ever felt like you are traveling on a very long road and you have no idea when you will get to your destination? Well, I am sure you have experienced this feeling before at some point in your life. Today, I am here to share with you an important element in my life that I think we all should do once in a while.
Self-reflection.
That keyword is simple, but we often try to ignore it for many reasons. "I am sorry, but my life is busy and I have no time to sit down and think about that." - I think this statement can resonate with all of us, but that does not mean we should continue postponing it.
Self-reflection is the act of looking back at your journey and being honest to yourself about where you are at in the present. And every single time you look back to that journey, you either feel happy with where you were or realize that things could have or should have been better. It's easier to say than do it because sometimes we don't even know what went wrong or how to improve things. However, keep in mind that you are still learning, and you are giving yourself a chance to change. No matter where you are in your journey, be happy with yourself. Be happy because you have worked very hard to reach your destination at the moment. Even if you are not at your dream destination yet, you know it. You know that you will get there eventually with your unstoppable determination.
Alright, alright! To end this post today, I want to leave you all with two tips on self-reflection. It works for me every time, and I hope it will work for you as well:
1) If you don't have 10 minutes to sit down and chill, how about 1-3 minutes? Take 1-3 minutes every day to be authentic about yourself. Just be honest with yourself about how you feel about your day? What makes you happy today or what disappoints you today? Perse, if you have a chance to redo your day, what would you change?
2) If you think self-reflection is taking up too much of your time, what about thinking of it as a routine of your life?
Don't think of self-reflection as a task that you must complete, but rather, think of it as an art that is a part of your life. You are doing it for a purpose called "self-care," and you are doing it to improve yourself.
So, today is a new day, and the sun is rising high like the picture I took on a bike trip. Let's open our minds to more opportunities to learn from our old self and grow out from it.
